Why did we choose this packaging?
Plastic pollution has become a signification environmental issue. So many things come in one-time use plastic, which is leading to an overwhelming amount of plastic production. Plastic is manmade, not something that is found in nature, which makes it incapable of being broken down. Most plastic products take an extremely long time to degrade, some much longer than our lifetime on this planet. A plastic bag can take 15 years to degrade, while a plastic bottle can take 450 years to degrade – and they usually just break into microplastics that cause damage to the environment and our health.
At Choose Happy, we are extremely passionate about the environment, the world we live in and the impacts we have on it. While one small act might not change the world, it extends onto others and leads to a more eco-conscious future. It doesn’t need to be one big change, but everyone working together to make a lot of small changes that contribute to a better future. For our part of that change, we chose to search for the sustainable packaging. We wanted to not only to create better products, but have them in better packaging for the environment – and contribute less to plastic waste. We chose to search out packaging that you can choose to be happy about - all renewable, recyclable, biodegradable!
All products come in recyclable non-plastic containers, labels are created from recycled materials and boxed in eco-friendly compostable packing.

Amber Glass Jars – Most of our products come in amber glass jars with metal lids. Glass is better than plastic on the pollution front, but also, it does not leach any chemicals into the product it contains. Amber glass jars block out UV light, protecting contents and making your product stay fresher longer. Also, fully reusable or recyclable.
Tin Containers – Some products come in aluminum tins. The flat wide opening makes it more convenient for some lotion applications, such as our foot cream. Also, fully reusable or recyclable.
Clear Bags – We use Eco Clear bags made from polylactic acid, which is derived from renewable resources like corn starch or sugar, making them fully compostable.
Packaging:
Both boxes and padded mailers are fully recyclable or can be thrown into the compost! Wrapped in water activated paper tape that is made from 50% recycled paper and stuffed with shredded recycled cardboard for cushioning.
Boxes – 100% recycled post-consumer waste Kraft boxes.
Padded Mailers - 100% recycled padded mailers that contain a recovered newspaper matting layer for cushioning between the layers of recycled Kraft paper.
Tape:
Clear Cello Tape: 100% plant-based, renewable, and biodegradable.
Kraft Paper Tape: Renewable paper tape that is water activated for the seal.

Want to choose to reuse instead of recycle? Since our products are packaged in reusable containers, we will schedule a meet up to take your old containers. All will be thoroughly sanitized to be repackaged. Return your containers for refill and receive a 10% discount on your next order!
